Optical lens components
Dome lens
Optical dome lenses are hemispherical or spherical lens components designed to protect optical systems while maintaining high optical performance. Used as the "first optical surface" in various systems, domes provide optical power, field of view expansion, and environmental protection in a single component.
We specialize in dome lenses fabricated from infrared (IR) materials, serving demanding military and aerospace applications where reliability and performance are critical.
Materials available:
Zinc Selenide (ZnSe)
Zinc Sulfide (ZnS / CVD ZnS)
Sapphire (Al₂O₃)
Silicon (Si)
Barium Fluoride (BaF₂)
Key applications:
Thermal imaging systems and infrared cameras
Missile guidance and defense optics
Aerospace navigation and sensing
Night vision equipment
Laser detection systems (LIDAR)
Space-based optical instrumentation
Capabilities:
Custom diameters from 10 mm to 300 mm, tight surface accuracy, anti-reflection coatings, and environmental hardening (anti-rain erosion, sand erosion) available.
At Spectro Optics, we understand the stringent requirements of military and aerospace projects. Our IR dome lenses meet MIL-SPEC standards where applicable, with full traceability and quality documentation.
