ZnS (Zinc Sulfide) window

ZnS windows provide reliable transmission across the visible to long-wave infrared spectrum, from 0.4 μm to 14 μm. Available in both standard (clear) and chemical vapor deposited (CVD) grades, ZnS offers excellent durability and environmental stability in demanding conditions.

Standard ZnS delivers good optical clarity and is ideal for general-purpose IR applications. CVD ZnS (often called "CVD Zinc Sulfide") offers superior transmission in the 8–12 μm atmospheric window and is the preferred choice for thermal imaging, defense optics, and laser window applications.

Key advantages include broad spectral coverage, high laser damage threshold (especially in CVD grade), and resistance to thermal shock. ZnS is commonly used in thermal imaging systems, CO₂ laser optics, security monitoring, and medical diagnostics.
